One model to "check out" is the Red Rock external pack, which was designed with a younger crowd in mind. With it's padded shoulder straps that have multiple positions, you can custom fit the pack to fit any body.
The Red Rock uses large #8 zippers, has a top loading access with a "hold-open" bar as well as top lid lash tabs, and has a daisy chain with a carry handle... all the features that you will appreciate when you're enjoying the great outdoors. With the various pockets, you will be able to organize you gear and keep water bottles and smaller items handy.
